President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga received today at a meeting the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mr. Nawabzada Malik Amad Khan.
Minister Khan presented to the President Jahjaga the verbal note of the recognition of Kosovo by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, signed by the President Asif Ali Zardari. Minister of State stated that the recognition has been undertaken in support of the aspirations of the people of Kosovo for independence. He also said that the decision is reached that at the same time diplomatic relations are established between the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Republic of Kosovo.
President of the Republic of Kosovo expressed the gratitude of the institutions of Kosovo to Pakistan upon their recognition of independence and regarded this as an important step towards the international consolidation of the country and its further democratisation.
President Jahjaga and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Amad Khan, emphasized that establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries will enable the furthering of cooperation in many other fields, inclusive of political, economic, cultural and educational fields.
