President Atifete Jahjaga received the Prefect of Eskişehir in Turkey, Mfr Kadir Koçdemir

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs Atifete Jahjaga, received today a delegation of the city of Eskişehir in the Republic of Turkey, lead by the Prefect of the city, Mr Kadir Koçdemir. The delegation was accompanied by the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Kosovo, Ms Songűl Ozan.

President Jahjaga stated that the relations between the Republic of Kosovo and Republic of Turkey are excellent and emphasized the importance of cooperation between the two countries in all fields, especially in the fields of education, culture and healthcare.

President Jahjaga said that Republic of Turkey continues to play an important role in relation to the support of the sovereignty and integrity of Kosovo and towards the international consolidation of the country.

President Jahjaga added that Kosovo has proved that it is a country built on civic principles, country that respects fully the human rights and in lieu of this, the Turkish community in Kosovo is a community that is fully integrated  into mainstream society and is playing a constructive role in the development of this society. This inclusion of the Turkish community in all levels of governance proves our dedication towards building a democratic state.

The Prefect of the city of Eskisehir, city that was nominated as a Capital of the immovable National Heritage by UNESCO, said that both countries have excellent relations and stated the importance for advancement of this relationship in the future, especially in the field of education, as a considerable number of students from Kosovo is currently undertaking educational courses in the two universities of this city.

He also said that as part of this visit, a twining project protocol will be signed with the municipality of the city of Prizren, an initiative this of the Turkish Embassy, as well as a meeting with the representatives of the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce with whom the issue of the potential Turkish investments in Kosovo will be discussed.
