President Atifete Jahjaga received the new KFOR Commander, Generalmajor Erhard Drews

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Madam Atifete Jahjaga, had a meeting with the new COM KFOR, Generalmajor Erhard Drews. President Jahjaga congratulated General Drews on his new assignment and emphasized the crucial role of the NATO peacekeeping forces in Kosovo in maintaining peace and stability in the region.

She said that KFOR is the most reliable international institution which enjoys the greatest respect among the citizens of Kosovo and together with the Kosovo Police play a major role in maintaining stability in the country.

The President stressed the great role that NATO plays in the training of the Kosovo Security Force and the preparation to meet the full operational capacities. She said that the KSF participation in regional and international peacekeeping missions of NATO and its membership in Euro-Atlantic structures, especially in the Partnership for Peace is very important.

The new KFOR Commander, Generalmajor Erhard Drews thanked the President for supporting the peacekeeping forces and stressed that KFOR will continue to fulfill its mandate in creating a peaceful and safe environment in Kosovo. He said that the peacekeeping force will continue the cooperation with the Kosovo institutions in carrying out its mission.
