President Atifete Jahjaga received the Director General of the ICITAP

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs Atifete Jahjaga, received today at a meeting the Director General of the ICITAP (International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Programme)- Washington DC, Mr Carr Trevillian, with whom she discussed the issue of development and further advancements of the security mechanisms and of the Police in Kosovo.

President Jahjaga praised the support that ICITAP has given towards raising of the capacities of the Kosovo Police and its professionalization. She said that Kosovo Police is a professional organisation and is most trusted by the citizens of Kosovo. President Jahjaga also stated that Kosovo has advanced in its democratic processes and stated that prevailing of the rule of law and order throughout the whole  of the territory of the Republic of Kosovo is its primary objective.

Madam President also stated that the institutions of Kosovo are endeavouring towards the improvement of the legislation on fighting of the negative phenomena, corruption and organised crime and emphasized the need for the increase of local capacities in achievement of success in fight against corruption.

She said that ICITAP experts, with their experience in fighting of the negative phenomena could contribute by providing support for the security mechanisms in Kosovo.

Director General of the ICITAP, Mr Carr Trevillian, praised the partnership with the Kosovo Police as sincere and successful and spoke in high regard of their achievements and engagements so far. He said that he felt enthusiastic about the Kosovo Police who, as he put it, is becoming a model for the whole region.
