President Atifete Jahjaga received a delegation from Egypt

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs Atifete Jahjaga, received at a meeting today a delegation from Egypt, chaired by Mr Ahmed Fahmy Ahmed, Speaker of the Shura Council, the upper house of the Egyptian Parliament

President Jahjaga informed the Egyptian delegation with the current developments in our country, stating that the end of the supervision of the independence is a joint success of the people, institutions and international friends of Kosovo.

Madam President also informed the delegation with the proceedings of the state-building process and of the international recognition of the country. Talking about the further strengthening of the mutual relations between the two countries, Madam President stated that the recognition of Kosovo’s independence by Egypt would mark a new momentum in the consolidation of the statehood of Kosovo internationally, as it would accelerate the new recognitions from the countries of the African continent.

President Jahjaga thanked the Egyptian delegation for the Egyptian vote in favour of Kosovo’s membership in International Monetary Fund and stated the importance of the support from Egypt in Kosovo’s membership bid in the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Mr Ahmed Fahmy Ahmed, Speaker of the Shura Council, on behalf of the Egyptian delegation, said that after the revolution in his country, the stand towards Kosovo has changed and emphasized that we are on the right track towards building of the proper relations between our two countries.
