Konjufca: Our courts to punish criminals even in absence

The Acting President of Kosovo, at the same time Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Glauk Konjufca, paid homage today at the memorial dedicated to the 41 victims of the Burim massacre in Malisheva.

Acting President Konjufca has described the commemoration and honoring of the fallen in Burim as an institutional obligation.

“We are here, alive and together, because someone has shed blood. They are about 14,000 citizens of Kosovo, who were killed and massacred by the occupying Serbian state. There are also 2500 martyrs who in uniform gave their lives for our freedom”, stressed Acting President Konjufca.

In this context, he said that family members but also the people can not have peace without justice being put into place.

“It is our duty to track them down, to find them, but also to punish the criminals. Our state already has all the necessary laws, as well as mechanisms to punish those who have committed massacres throughout Kosovo. Two or three years ago, as you know, we passed a law that allows our courts to punish Serbian criminals even in absence. Punishments should be imposed on all those about who there are evidence of having committed crimes in Kosovo”, said among others Mr. Konjufca.
