Jahjaga: Constitutionality and legality must be extended throughout the territory of Kosovo

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Madam Atifete Jahjaga, has given a statement on the occasion of the 9th of April, the Day of the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo.

In the statement it is said:

The adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo, the highest legal document of our country, four years ago, is a historic act, that expresses the will of the people of the Republic of Kosovo.

Being the guarantor of the rights and freedoms of all citizens of our country, the guarantor of free speech, free movement and the rule of law, the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo has opened up our country’s development in all fields.

Based on this fundamental document, Kosovo is being built on the foundations of a legal state, which considers the rule of law a fundamental principle of its functionality and that the respect for the Constitution and the laws becomes the high value of our society.

The construction of the legal state demands constant effort and involvement of the institutions and the whole society in the Republic of Kosovo, of equal people who respect their homeland.

Constitutionality and legality must be extended throughout the territory of Kosovo, including the three municipalities in the north, and the citizens of our state, regardless of their affiliations, must feel equal and protected by the Constitution.

Happy 9th April, the Day of the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo!

Atifete Jahjaga,
President of the Republic of Kosovo
