Prishtina, April 20, 2018 – The President of the state, Hashim Thaçi, received today a delegation from the Turkish community of Kosovo in honor of the “Turkish Community Day in Kosovo”.
Congratulating all the citizens of the Turkish community on their day, President Thaçi said that the communities enrich our society with their holidays and culture.
“Kosovo is the homeland of all citizens, and our coexistence, jointly overcoming not only the celebrations but also the other difficulties, makes our society even stronger”, said President Thaçi.
Whereas, Mahir Yagcilar, President of the Turkish Democratic Party of Kosovo and Chair of this delegation, stressed that coexistence and tolerance have a centuries-old tradition in Kosovo.
“The Turkish community is committed to the strengthening of the state of Kosovo, our democracy and our society”, added Yagcilar.
President Thaçi also thanked the Turkish delegation for the continued contribution to the state institutions.
After the independence of Kosovo, April 22 is designated as the Day of Turks and in the Law on Official Holidays it is designated as a Memorial Day.
