President Thaçi requests from the judges more dedication in service of the state

Prishtina, December 2, 2017 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, participated today at the opening of the 7th Annual Judicial Conference, organized by the Kosovo Judicial Council and supported by the OSCE.

President Thaçi said that since the declaration of independence, the Republic of Kosovo until now has undertaken a series of actions aimed at consolidating the justice system and in the function of respecting the constitutional order.

“The achievements of our judicial system are not few, but there have been challenges along the way as well. Only during this year we have undertaken important steps in strengthening our judicial system and its extension throughout the territory of the Republic of Kosovo”, said President Thaçi.

Based on the proposals of the Kosovo Judicial Council, President Thaçi has said he has appointed one hundred judges, out of which forty judges have been from non-majority communities, thus functionalizing the courts throughout the territory of the country.

“In this regard, I consider that this year is a special year for the Republic of Kosovo, because our state is being built on constitutional principles, those of inclusiveness, equality and freedom of every individual, to accomplish themselves and seek their happiness without ever being violated the right to be part of the Kosovo society”, said President Thaçi.

He added that the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo and our international friends, since the end of the war, have not stopped working to have a proper judicial system in Kosovo, a system where everyone will be equal and will be treated as such.

“You are the ones who have this sacred duty in front of you, in front of the people, and in fornt of the law. Your professionalism, impartiality and independence enhances the credibility of our judicial system, while securing equal access to the courts further increases the credibility of citizens vis-à-vis the courts and no doubt all institutions of the Republic of Kosovo will be in your support, to achieve the goals and purposes for a well-organized, professional, independent, impartial judicial system in service of the society”, he stated.

President Thaçi said that, from all the functions he has had, he has offered and will offer all his support in advancing the justice system.

He said that the challenges we have passed as a country have made us stand even more determined and convinced that the Republic of Kosovo deserves to be a state with a proper system of justice.

President Thaçi has congratulated the judges for all they have done during these years in service of our state and has invited them to continue to work with professionalism and dedication.
