President Thaçi held a consultative meeting with the representatives of the political parties to set the date of the early elections

Prishtina, May 11 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, called today a consultative meeting with the representatives of the political parties in Kosovo, after the vote of no confidence of the Government at yesterday’s session of the Assembly of Kosovo.

In this meeting, the President has stated that according to the Law on the General Elections, the day when the extraordinary elections should be held should be Sunday, and not earlier than 30 days from the dissolution and not later than 45 days from the dissolution of the Assembly.

“In the determination of the date of the elections we must consider all the factors that may influence the conduct of the elections. The Central Election Commission has expressed its readiness to organize the elections and to ensure their good progres”, he has said.

President Thaçi has said that as a Kosovo we have installed the tradition of organizing free and successful elections. According to him, the upcoming elections must also prove this and ensure a credible and acceptable electoral process by all.

After the discussions with the representatives of the political parties and based on the constitutional competencies, the President will soon decree the date of the elections.
